Welcome to Rio Dobermans and Boston Terriers! Home of Best of Breed 2014 Westminster winner “Denzel”, as well as many other champions, Westminster qualifiers, and Best in Show specialty winners.

We are responsible and reputable Doberman Pinscher and Boston Terrier show exhibitors and hobby breeders. We have owned purebred dogs for over 31 years, and are breeders of merit with the American Kennel Club. Rio is dedicated to promoting & protecting the health, temperament, trainability, soundness and overall integrity of the breed.

We do not condone or support the breeding of the “white”/albino Doberman as it is a genetic mutation.

Our Dobermans & Boston Terriers that we have bred compete in conformation, obedience, agility, rally and serve as therapy dogs. Public education and having our dogs as ambassadors is of great importance to us. The Rio Dobermans entertain the public on Labor Day at the Minnesota State Fair on the Doberman Drill team, as well as earn Working Aptitude Certificates, demonstrating that Dobermans demonstrate the characteristics required of a dog to be a stable companion and resolute protector. We have litters of puppies on occasion. Buying a puppy is a lifelong commitment.

Professional Stylist

We have appointments starting at 7:00 am each day until 3:00 pm depending upon the grooming service being performed. Professional grooming sessions can take anywhere from 2 – 6 hours to complete. Our groomers will call as soon as they are finished pampering your pet so you can pick up right away.

Grooming Students

Grooming School Students offer dog grooming at a discounted rate Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday each week. All new guests should note that they may be required to have one of our Professional groomers complete the first groom to ensure your dog would be a good fit for services provided by our students.

Self-Serve Dog Wash

Rio Grooming offers a Self-Service dog wash that is quick and easy to use. With 24-hour, seven day-a-week availability and no reservation or appointment time required, there’s no limit to when you can pamper your pet to a spa day! Just swipe your credit/debit card and for $20 you will receive 20 minutes of use.
