Groomer and Bather – Dog’s Day Out – DIY Dog Wash, Grooming, and RetailScheduleDog’s Day Out Business Hours: Thursday – Sunday – 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.Groomer’s Hours: Thursday – Sunday – 9:30 a.m. – 6:30 p.m. TBDNOTE: These are the initial hours for the business. This is subject to change based on business needs, as determined by the owner and Chief Administrative Officer.DescriptionWe are looking for a friendly Dog Groomer and bather to perform all grooming and bathing related duties necessary to ensure that dogs are neat, clean, and look their best. The Dog Groomer’s responsibilities include bathing dogs of various sizes and temperaments, trimming, clipping, or shaving hair/fur, and removing matted hair. You should also be able to ensure that grooming tools and equipment are in good working condition.You should be able to comply with dog owners’ instructions as well as accommodate any special requests that they may have. Ultimately, a top-notch Dog Groomer will treat all dogs with the utmost love and care.Responsibilities• Dematting and detangling hair as required• Bathing, conditioning and drying dogs• Trimming dog’s nails, brushing their teeth, anal expressions, cleaning their ears, etc.• Grooming and styling dogs according to dog owner’s instructions or standard grooming styles• Accommodating special requests that dog owners may have• Identifying health issues in dogs, such as ear infections, skin conditions, tooth decay, etc. and inform dog owners of these observations• Ensuring that all dogs are safe during the grooming process• Routinely cleaning work areas• Recommending suitable products to dog ownersSkills Preferred• High school diploma or GED• Certification through the National Dog Groomer Association of America or similar• Proven professional grooming experience• Excellent understanding of dog behaviorSkills Required• The ability to stand for long periods of time• The ability to treat all dogs with compassion• The ability to lift heavy dogs and equipment• Excellent communication skills• Exceptional customer service skillsCompensation• Hourly pay – $15.00/hour• 50% commission on all full grooms ON TOP of the hourly pay• Tips• All benefits available include but not limited to:• Employer-sponsored and subsidized medical and dental insurance• Paid Time Off (up to 12 days per calendar year)• Free dog daycare for employee’s dog• Free or discounted boarding for employee’s dog• Discounts on retail products including dog food• Sign on bonus of $300 after 1 month of employment
