Puppy Play and Stay Groomer Job Description

Puppy Play and Stay, Lakeville’s newest and only Dog Daycare and Boarding facility is looking to hire an experienced individual with a flexible schedule to join our team. The ideal candidate will be available 3-4 weekdays, and one weekend day each week. Compensation based on experience, open to discussing compensation structure. Full time employees are benefits eligible after 90 days.

General Summary of Job

The Groomer’s primary duties are to properly groom and finish pets by using humane practices and minimizing pet stress. Additionally, the groomer is responsible for supervising Pup Pros scheduled to assist with bathing and the maintenance and cleaning of the groom space and bathing room. The Groomer reports to the Operations Manager.

Primary Duties

Perform groom functions as requested by client and described on the Gingr Service request or instruction form. Provide an attractive pet style that meets client’s expectations and is appropriate for the pet.
Ensure Pup Pros are preparing pups for grooming in accordance to procedures.
Observe pup’s coat conditions and when necessary recommend shave downs versus de-matting of pets.
Ensure Guest Services is advised of extra charges required for brush-out or de-matting.
Finish pups as described in procedures.
Bathe pups as needed.
Manage groom shop work schedule to ensure departure times are met or client’s notified in advance of unavoidable delays.
Keep grooming stations stocked with supplies, tools cleaned and ready for use.
Ensure Pup Pros keep groom shop clean.
During the workday keep the room safe by wiping up water spills and pet accidents as soon as possible.
At the end of each workday all hair should be swept/mopped from floor and cleaned from tubs/shower.
Update pet status on Gingr when completed. Advise Guest Services when pups are finished and pawrents should be called for pick up.
Follow safety procedures for pets and staff at all times. Ask for assistance when a pet is stressed, very difficult to manage or showing any signs of injury.
Advise Operations Manager of any issues with Pup Pro job performance.

Minimum Experience, Skills, Certification or Academic Background Required

High school graduate or GED preferred
Professional grooming school graduate preferred or comparable grooming experience
Good oral & written communication skills
Proven humane pet handling skills
Previous work experience demonstrating dependability
Self-motivated, independent worker
Proven leadership and training skills
Ability to work in a team environment
Good decision and problem-solving skills
Good organization and planning skills
Demonstrated flexibility and proven coping skills

Pay: $15.00 – $18.00 per hour
